End-of-April showers forecast for western WA. How long until warmer weather returns?
The South Sound region is in for end-of-April showers, with cool, breezy and wet weather expected Saturday and through the early week, according to the National Weather Service.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the NWS said that a cold front would be catching up to a warm front, resulting in “increasingly wet & breezy conditions across Western WA” on Saturday. In celebration of National Gummi Bear Day, the NWS used the candies to illustrate the different weather fronts in its post.
Showers were likely through the weekend, possibly bringing between a tenth and quarter of an inch of new precipitation in Tacoma and Olympia, the NWS said. The heaviest rainfall was possible along the coast.
More showers, or at least a chance of showers, were forecast for much of the rest of the week, including a possible thunderstorm on Monday night, as a series of fronts and upper level troughs pass through. It was expected to be mostly sunny Wednesday with a high near 59 degrees, and either partly or mostly sunny to close out the week, according to the NWS.
“Expect temperatures to top out in the 50s and 60s, with warmer temperatures towards the end of next week,” the NWS said.
