A 37-year-old man was killed Saturday night after he crashed into the rear of an SUV in the Puyallup area, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

The man died at the scene, Sgt. Darren Moss said.

About 9:25 p.m., the motorcyclist was headed north on Canyon Road East at 144th Street East in the Puyallup area, he said.

Moss, citing witness information, said the man was traveling at speeds between 80-100 miles per hour when he crashed into the vehicle.

The SUV driver was doing about 40 miles per hour at impact, Moss said. The driver heard a loud noise and jerked forward, but no injuries were reported, he said.

Another witness also reported that after the crash the motorcyclist was run over by a vehicle that left the scene, Moss said.
