The Tacoma Dome will be the setting for 25 high school and college graduation ceremonies for the class of 2024 over the next few weeks. Organizers expect 75,000 people to attend.

The celebrations begin Thursday with Bates Technical College’s graduation. The Tacoma Venues & Events team will also host three additional ceremonies at the Greater Tacoma Convention Center, according to a Tacoma Dome media release.

“The Tacoma Venues & Events team is honored to welcome the class of 2024 and their visitors to Tacoma as we continue the legacy of hosting this important milestone in so many lives,” Adam Cook, TVE Director, said in the release. “It is a joy to celebrate these graduates’ accomplishments, and we are proud to serve as our community’s gathering place for another generation’s iconic Tacoma Dome stories. Congratulations to all!”

Residents and area businesses anticipate increased traffic around the Dome District and convention center due to visitors attending the ceremonies, the release said.

“In 2023, over 9,600 graduates were awarded their diplomas on the Tacoma Dome stage with more than 78,000 people in attendance. Graduations in Tacoma last year generated more than $1 million in economic impact,” the release said.

More information on graduation times and ceremony information can be found on the Tacoma Dome events section website.
