A 27-year-old woman was hurt and taken to an area hospital after she crashed her car early Sunday morning, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The Tacoma resident was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center for her injuries.

About 3:15 a.m., the woman was driving south on state Route 509, just south of Milwaukee Way, according to State Patrol.

Troopers say the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck the barrier on both sides of the road. That caused the vehicle to roll, but it landed on its wheels, according to State Patrol.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Following it, the road was closed for four hours, troopers say.
