From the Olympics to Tacoma: French metal band Gojira to open for Korn at the Tacoma Dome
If you were one of the nearly 29 million people who tuned in to watch the opening ceremony for the Paris 2024 Olympics, then you probably witnessed the mind-blowing performance put on by Gojira.
Gojira, a french heavy metal band, brought the heat to the opening ceremony. The band performed from platforms hanging from the external window frames of the famed Conciergerie, a former courthouse and prison located along the River Seine on July 26. The Grammy-nominated band fused the sounds of loud guitars and intense rhythmic drums with Opera vocals. Their performance also included images of a headless Marie-Antoinette in the windows. She was once held prisoner in that exact location, according to the Conciergerie’s website.
If you enjoyed Gojira’s Olympics performance, then you’ll be happy to know that the French quartet will make their way to Tacoma this fall.
Gojira will join American nu metal band Korn on their 25-city tour across North America which includes a stop in Tacoma. Gojira will open for Korn on Thursday, Oct. 10 at the Tacoma Dome.
