Semi-truck driver suffered medical episode prior to fiery crash on I-5 in Tacoma

A vehicle crash on Interstate 5 in Tacoma on Tuesday occurred after a semi-truck driver suffered a medical episode.

The crash between a car and a semi-truck in the northbound lanes near Delin Street spilled fuel onto the freeway. A fire burned in the freeway’s median, The News Tribune reported.

The state Department of Transportation reported the wreck at 5:24 p.m.

The semi-truck driver was taken to the hospital for the medical episode, Washington State Patrol Trooper John Dattilo said. The driver of the car was uninjured.
