Latest Tacoma hotel conversion site offers first units for lease. Here are the details
Sage Investment Group announced this week that another of its South Hosmer Street properties is now leasing.
Thea Apartments, 7414 S. Hosmer St., offers studios and one-bedroom apartments, with monthly rents ranging from $1,295 to $1,395. The apartments are furnished with a queen-sized bed, dresser or wardrobe organizer, TV and seating area.
Earlier this summer, Whitney Wilkins, director of community relations for the group, told The News Tribune that potential tenants are screened, and that the screening process is aligned with the HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing program.
“We can be flexible because we understand that people want to be able to build, and they want to be able to start working toward that,” Wilkins said. “And as long as they’re not in arrears, we’re happy to work with them.”
Sage, of Kirkland, over the past few years has purchased a string of former motel-hotel properties along the street, converting them into lower-cost apartment units.
Along with Thea, Sage is working to convert the former Red Lion in Olympia and HomeTowne Studios, 8801 S. Hosmer St., to apartments. It completed Safe Harbor apartments and Cascade Ridge apartments, both also on South Hosmer Street in Tacoma, last year.
Wilkins in June said because Sage’s sites are former hotels, they are able to offer a “technology and utility package” so renters don’t have to set up separate utility and internet/cable accounts, and instead just pay one bill each month.
Thea Apartments also has a club room, indoor pool and fitness center with hot tub, sauna and steam room, miniature golf, a laundry on each floor, gated entrance and onsite management/maintenance, among other amenities.
