Southbound I-5 two-vehicle collision prompts 3 center lane closures, driver injuries
A two-vehicle collision Friday morning on southbound Interstate 5 near state Route 16 left one person injured.
Washington State Patrol troopers and Washington State Department of Transportation-Tacoma arrived at the scene, Trooper John Dattilo wrote Friday in a post on X (Twitter). The post, published just after 6 a.m., further explained that three center lanes were blocked to traffic.
An accompanying photo shows a car on its side, its windshield broken.
One driver had minor injuries, Dattilo continued, and tow trucks were en route to clear the wreckage.
Dattilo told The News Tribune that it appears as though one driver may have had a medical emergency, leading them to lose control of the car. He added that the driver may have been having seizures.
At around 9:10 a.m. he told The News Tribune that the road had been cleared.
“We currently have no incidents on the freeway,” he said.
