A public memorial for News Tribune columnist Matt Driscoll will be held Sunday, Sept. 15, his family and the event’s planners have announced.

Driscoll died unexpectedly at his Tacoma home July 22. The cause and manner of his death remains pending, according to the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

A celebration of life will be held in the Spanish Ballroom at McMenamins Elks Temple, 565 Broadway, Tacoma, at 4:45 p.m. Doors open at 4 p.m.

Driscoll’s family, friends and former colleagues will speak. Tacoma-based band Girl Trouble will perform. The event will conclude at 7:30 p.m.

An auction of two Beautiful Angle prints will help defray the costs of the memorial, event organizers said. A GoFundMe campaign has been established to help the Driscoll family.
