Tacoma woman killed in Tumwater after crashing into tree and light pole

A Tacoma woman died early Saturday morning when the Jeep she was driving left U.S. 101 in Tumwater and crashed into a tree.

Jayla M. Gidley, 36, died at the scene, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The WSP said Gidley’s 2008 Jeep Compass was traveling south on 101 on the ramp to southbound Interstate 5 a few minutes past midnight when it left the road and struck a light pole and a tree.

The Jeep came to rest 100 feet off the road, down an embankment, the WSP said.
