VP candidate Tim Walz is visiting WA for a fundraiser. Traffic might be a problem
Democratic Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is expected to visit Washington state on Tuesday, Oct. 8, according to a press release from the Washington State Democratic Party.
Walz, who is the vice presidential running mate of presidential candidate Kamala Harris, is expected to arrive in Washington on Monday, Oct. 7 at 5 p.m. and will attend a private event in the King County town of Hunts Point on Tuesday, Oct. 8 in the morning. The fundraising event is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., but event details have not been made public.
There aren’t any public events scheduled during Walz’s visit, according to an email from Stephen Reed, the director of communications at the Washington State Democrats.
His visit to the Evergreen State comes less than a month before election day, and just a week after facing Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance in the vice-presidential debate.
Walz’s visit could cause some traffic around the Puget Sound region, but the Washington State Department of Transportation has not released any information regarding road closures.
Aisha Dayal, the WSDOT northwest region communications manager, said in an email that any and all closures related information related to Walz’s visit is happening under the direction of the Secret Service and recommends following @wsdot_traffic and the WSP District 2 accounts on X for real time road closures.
