An 86-year-old Tumwater man died in a car crash Friday on state Route 706 in Pierce County.

Arvil Crase was riding in a vehicle that was traveling west at 226th Avenue at 10:45 a.m., according to a press memo and Washington State Patrol spokesperson John Dattilo. The man was killed when another vehicle traveling the opposite direction moved off the road and hit Crase’s vehicle, which had turned left into a private driveway.

Crase’s driver, an 86-year-old Tumwater woman, was injured and transported to Tacoma General Hospital. The driver of the other car, a 79-year-old man from Spanaway, was not injured, according to the memo.
