Heads up, guys and ghouls: Halloween is just over two weeks away. South Sound residents still have plenty of time to ring in the spooky season, with lots of options to explore.

The News Tribune asked Metro Parks Tacoma about where folks can go to experience to-die-for fun. Here are five of this month’s most scream-worthy activities.

Eastside Haunted House

Thrill seekers of all ages can head to the Eastside Community Center, 1721 E. 56th St., on Thursday, Oct. 31 from 6-7:30 p.m.

Kids are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes when scoping out the Eastside Haunted House. There will also be “treat bags” and a photo booth, per Metro Parks’ website. Note that attendees 10 and under need to have an adult with them.

Zoo Boo at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium

Animal- and candy-lovers are urged to wear costumes to experience a very Halloween-y Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, 5400 N. Pearl St. Get in to check out “Zoo Boo” with a membership. It’s also free when paying admission.

Zoo Boo is scheduled 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Oct. 19 and 20, according to the zoo’s website.

Harvest Fest

Three Tacoma locations are hosting Harvest Fest. The free event series will see harvest-themed treats, crafts, dancing, carnival games and a costume contest, among other activities, according to Metro Parks.

Glow Golf at Meadow Park Golf Course

On Oct. 25 and 26, costume-wearers can snag a goody bag at the Halloween Glow Golf event at Meadow Park Golf Course, 7108 Lakewood Dr. The bags will boast candy and other holiday-themed swag, according to Metro Parks’ website.

Hoot ‘n’ Howl at Northwest Trek Wildlife Park

Hop into a costume and head to Northwest Trek Wildlife Park to find animals, lights, candy and general eerieness, plus games like “pumpkin checkers,” as noted on Metro Parks’ website.

Hoot ‘n’ Howl will take place at the park in Eatonville, 11610 Trek Dr. E, from 5-9 p.m. on Oct. 18, 19, 25 and 26.
