Crashes have cars backed up near the off-ramp to Union Avenue on westbound state Route 16, merging with traffic just north of state Route 16 on southbound I-5, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The department posted on X about a collision partially blocking the off-ramp to Union Avenue near milepost 1 at 4:03 p.m. Updates within the hour said medical aid, fire assistance and Washington State Patrol troopers had arrived on scene.

Washington State Patrol spokesperson John Dattilo said there were four cars involved and no injuries, and tow trucks have been called.

A disabled vehicle also blocked the left-center lane on southbound I-5 at milepost 133, the department posted on X at 3:46 p.m. An update at 4:27 p.m. said an incident response team and tow assistance came to the scene.

Dattilo said the disabled vehicle is a semi-truck and that it sounded like it was having mechanical problems. He said troopers were working on getting it cleared at around 5:05 p.m.
