One person was shot and later died and three others also suffered gunshot wounds in an overnight shooting in the Puyallup area, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

About 12:40 a.m. Sunday, deputies were dispatched to a report of a shooting near 152nd Street East and 66th Avenue East. That area is west of South Hill.

Once at the scene, deputies found a vehicle that had crashed into a ditch and man who had been shot. He was alert and breathing and was taken to an area hospital with injuries that were considered serious, but not life-threatening, according to the sheriff’s department.

Meanwhile, three other young adults showed up at the hospital with gunshot wounds. One of them, a 23-year-old man, died as a result of his injuries.

Deputies have little information about the incident.

They do not have a suspect description and shooting location, although they believe it may have originated at a nearby party.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s department at 253-798-7530 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
