Data outage impacts Washington’s online court networks, including Pierce County
Washington state’s courts network is dealing with a data outage that has affected online services Monday.
“The [Administrative Office of the Courts] recently detected unauthorized activity on the Washington Courts network and took immediate action to secure critical systems. At this time, we are working as quickly as possible to restore all services,” according to Washington Court’s in a news release.
The outage includes all Judicial Information Systems, the Washington Courts websites and associated services, Wendy Ferrell, associate director of the AOC, told The News Tribune in an email.
“AOC is working closely with third-party partners to safely restore and test our systems and determine what, if any, impact there is to the network,” the release said. “There will be intermittent impacts to accessibility of the Washington Courts website and other systems in the coming days as this work continues.”
Pierce County’s district and municipal courts were affected by the statewide outage, administrator Misty Robison told The News Tribune on Monday. Robison said they received word of the outage Sunday night.
The District Court listed information on its website on how operations would look until the services are fully restores. Only essential court functions would be available as the court is operating with limited services.
Another news release Monday afternoon announced that services offered by the Pierce County Superior Court Clerk’s Office will be impacted by the outage. Some electronic court record searches and balance information for judgments and fines owed will be unavailable for a time, according to the release.
The Clerk’s Office will be open during normal business hours, and users still have general online access, the release said.
The service changes are expected to remain throughout the week, according to the release. Updates will be posted to the Clerk of the Superior Court website and Pierce County’s social media channels.
