The City of Tacoma is hiring for several full-time positions across several departments that pay at least $85,000 per year to over $200,000 per year.

Here are five positions that are currently available:

Construction Inspector

  • Department: Environmental Services
  • Salary: $41.12- $52.48, hourly
  • Deadline: November 12 at 5 p.m.
  • Description: Inspect construction and installation projects as well as sewers, streets, street lighting and traffic signal systems, telephone cables and bridges. This person is also tasked with communicating with various city departments to coordinate and facilitate projects.
  • Qualifications: High school diploma, college courses related to inspection work and three years of experience in field or office engineering work involving construction phase reviews.

Arts Program Administrator

  • Department: Community & Economic Development
  • Salary: $92,872 - $130,728, annually
  • Deadline: November 12 at 5 p.m.
  • Description: Develop and implement public art projects for the City of Tacoma and the city’s partners while providing training to public art project manager position and interns. This person will also be tasked with developing yearly workplans and budgets for purchasing artwork and maintenance.
  • Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in art, art history, fine arts, museum studies or a related field and four years of experience in art administration, program administration or museum curation.

Transportation Permit Review Senior Engineer

  • Department: Public Works
  • Salary: $92,872 - $130,728, annually
  • Deadline: Continuous
  • Description: The person in this position is in charge of performing technical engineering and planning duties to support the Transportation Division’s review of land use permits and site improvements for projects.
  • Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field and two years of experience in engineering or a Washington State Engineer-in-Training certificate.

▪ Real-Time Energy Trader

  • Department: Power
  • Salary: $59.62 - $83.94, hourly
  • Deadline: November 19 at 5 p.m.
  • Description: The person in this position is tasked with marketing, negotiating and executing trades of power in conformance with the department’s trading guidelines and Energy Risk Management policies. This person will also evaluate system surplus or deficit situations and will also implement transactions to maintain interchange balance.
  • Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in business, economics, mathematics or engineering and two years of experience in wholesale energy marketing, quantitative analysis or any related utility operations.

Water Principal Engineer

  • Department: Water
  • Salary: $124,009.60 - $174,595.20, annually
  • Deadline: November 12 at 5 p.m.
  • Description: The person in this position will be in charge of leading water infrastructure projects and programs and reviews the preparation of plans that feature technical specifications and engineering calculations. This person will also perform a quality control reports of consultant work product, technical reports, plans, specifications and cost estimates.
  • Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field and five years of experience including one year as a licensed professional engineer or project lead.
