Tacoma can expect a slightly chillier Thanksgiving this year. Here’s what the forecast says
Thanksgiving is usually spent indoors, which means that weather shouldn’t really impact this holiday, but bad weather could affect travel plans and could even keep people from participating in Turkey Trot 5k races.
It’s been one week since Washington was hit with a bomb cyclone that left hundreds of thousands of people without power for several days. Luckily, Tacoma wasn’t severely impacted by the wind storm, and the city’s luck continues this week as the rainy weather is expected to clear up for Thanksgiving day.
Here’s what the weather forecast for Tacoma looks like for Thanksgiving day and through the weekend.
Thanksgiving weather in Tacoma
According to the National Weather Service forecast, Tacoma can expect to have a chilly Thanksgiving with cloudy skies - minus the rain.
Thursday, Nov. 28 morning temperatures are expected to be in the high 30s before reaching a high of about 42 degrees in the early afternoon. Temperatures will begin to drop in the evening before reaching a low of about 35 degrees. There is a slight chance for late night rain that will carry into the morning of Friday, Nov. 29.
Colder temperatures are being pushed in this week due to a ridge of high pressure that is developing offshore, according to a post on X by NWS Seattle.
The chance of showers will continue throughout Friday with a high of about 44 degrees and a low of around 36 degrees, according to the NWS.
The NWS forecast for Saturday and Sunday also shows that there will be a chance for showers with high temperatures expected to be in the mid 40s and low temperatures in the mid to high 30s.
