Here is the holiday trash schedule for Pierce County residents, delays are expected

In the weeks leading up to the holidays, we can begin to accumulate a lot more trash than usual since many people are buying and wrapping gifts, and preparing their homes to welcome guests.

And let’s not forget all of the garbage that will pile up after the holiday dinners and people unwrap their presents.

That makes it important to know your trash service provider’s holiday schedule, and when to put the cans out on the curb.

Holiday trash collection in Pierce County

Tacoma Solid Waste Management

Tacoma Solid Waste Management does not collect trash on major holidays, including Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, so residents can expect to have their trash collected one day later than usual, according to the city’s website.

Other collection days will remain on their regular schedule for the week.

LeMay Pierce County Refuse

The LeMay Pierce County Refuse offices will be open on Christmas Eve, but will close on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Trash collection will be delayed by one day for customers who have a collection day that lands on Christmas or New Year’s, according to their website.

LeMay Pierce County Refuse serves the following areas:

  • Anderson Island
  • DuPont
  • Eatonville
  • Graham
  • Lakewood
  • Parkland
  • Roy
  • Spanaway
  • Steilacoom
  • Puyallup: ZIP codes 98373 (south of 112th St.) and 98375

Murrey’s Disposal

Murrey’s Disposal will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s, and trash collection routes will be delayed by one day during both of those weeks. If your trash is usually collected on Wednesdays, it will be collected on Thursday. If your trash is usually collected on Thursdays, it will be collected on Friday. If your trash is usually collected on Fridays, it will be collected on Saturday. All carts must be placed curbside by 6 a.m. to ensure service.

Customers can search their address on the Murrey’s Disposal website to see the holiday schedule.

  • Bonney Lake
  • Brown’s Point
  • Carbonado
  • Edgewood
  • Fife
  • Gig Harbor
  • Key Peninsula
  • Milton
  • Orting
  • Purdy
  • Ruston
  • South Prairie
  • Sumner
  • Wilkenson
  • Puyallup: ZIP codes 98371, 98372, 98373 (north of 112th St.), and 98374

University Place Refuse and Recyling

University Place Refuse and Recycling serves Pierce County residents who live in University Place and Fircrest. University Place Refuse and Recycling will be closed for Christmas and New Year’s. Trash collection will be delayed by one day from the day after Christmas and New Year’s, through the remainder of the week.
