The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a suspected homicide in Parkland, the department announced a little after noon Sunday.

About 7:30 a.m., a man’s body was found on a jogging trail at the Parkland Prairie Nature Preserve, which is in the 13000 block of Yakima Avenue South, Deputy Carly Cappetto said.

A resident saw the body Sunday morning and called 911 for a welfare check of the man, Cappetto said.

No weapons were found at the scene, although there were indications of foul play to make the death suspicious, she said.

The man is described as Hispanic and is thought to be in his mid-30s, Cappetto said.
