A male driver in his early 30s was arrested on suspicion of two counts of vehicular assault after causing a wreck that injured multiple people Friday night, according to Tacoma police.

About 10 p.m., police were dispatched to what they termed a “serious collision” at 1900 Sprague Avenue.

“The driver of the at-fault vehicle was driving at excessive speed prior to the collision. Victims went to area hospitals for treatment for serious injuries,” said police in a social media post.

The causing driver had two passengers and the truck he crashed into was occupied by two people, Detective William Muse said Sunday.

The adult female passenger in the truck suffered a serious injury when she was partially ejected into the windshield, he said.

According to the social media post, the intersection was closed and the wreck was investigated for more than six hours.
