Original post:

Three right lanes on northbound I-5 were blocked near the Tacoma Dome Wednesday evening, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The department posted about the initial collision on X at 5:47 p.m. Washington State Patrol spokesperson Sgt. Jeffrey Bridges confirmed via phone at around 6:30 p.m. that the three right lanes were closed and traffic was getting by in the HOV lane and the other two lanes on the left. Troopers are on-scene, Bridges said.

The collision was a four-car fender-bender that resulted from another three-car wreck further down the highway, which backed up traffic, according to Tacoma Fire Department spokesperson Chelsea Shepherd. Tacoma Fire transported two people to the hospital from the three-car wreck, she said. The four-car collision resulted in a minor injury.

Editor’s note: A previous version of this story misstated details from the collision that closed three right lanes on northbound I-5. The four-car collision resulted in a minor injury. A three-car collision further down northbound I-5 sent two people to the hospital.
