A house in Tacoma used for a suspected marijuana-grow operation caught fire early Friday morning.

Firefighters were dispatched at about 12:05 a.m. to the 9400 block of Tacoma Avenue South for a call that someone’s back patio was on fire, according to the department on X.

The two-story home was burning when firefighters arrived, the post said.

About 50 percent of the home was on fire and there was significant damage. There were no reported injuries because no one was inside when the fire occurred, Tacoma Fire spokeswoman Chelsea Shepherd told The News Tribune.

Shepherd confirmed the house appeared to be used for a cannabis-grow operation. One of the floors was converted for the operation.

It is unclear if anyone lives in the home, and no one stopped by when firefighters were on scene, she said. It is not clear what started the fire.
