3.4-magnitude earthquake near Auburn, potentially felt in parts of east Pierce County
Residents in Auburn and east Pierce County may have woken up early Saturday morning to an earthquake.
A 3.4-magnitude earthquake shook the area at about 3:45 a.m., according to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network. It had a depth of 25.36 kilometers.
The earthquake reportedly happened about 13 miles east of Tacoma.
When an earthquake occurs, the U.S. Geological Survey says people should stay indoors if they are already inside. Get under a desk or table, and hang on it. People can also move into a hallway or be against an inside wall.
If you are outside, get into a more open area that is away from buildings, power lines or anything else that could fall on you.
