Testing continues at Tacoma General and Mary Bridge following electrical damage
Tacoma General and Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital will continue to run on generator power until Monday, according to a statement from MultiCare Health System.
Electrical service specialists were still running tests Saturday evening, assessing the damage caused by a water-system leak that damaged an electrical switch.
“This testing will likely take all weekend,” according to the statement sent by Media Relations Manager Scott Thompson. “We anticipate we will be able to return to main power by Monday.”
Repairs to an electrical vault at Tacoma General were completed Saturday morning, Thompson’s statement said. Both hospitals continue to accept trauma patients.
Until full power returns, hospital leaders recommend that people needing lower-level medical services should consider urgent care clinics and virtual or telehealth options.
