A landslide blocked off part of a Tacoma roadway Wednesday morning.

The 3700 block of Marine View Drive is closed, according to the City of Tacoma in a Facebook post at 7:12 a.m.

The post said that crews are working to clear the roadway.

Afternoon update: Marine View Drive remains closed to northbound traffic at East 11th Street and Marine View Drive and southbound traffic at Slayden Road Northeast and Marine View Drive, according to the City of Tacoma in a news release.

There is no estimated timeline on when the landslide will be cleared.

“Before crews can begin clearing the road, the fallen trees must be removed. Furthermore, trees at the top of the slope remain unstable, as does the slope itself, presenting ongoing safety hazards,” the release said.

There are detours routes to redirect traffic, the release said. Motorists are asked to avoid the area.

The city will provide new information as it becomes available.

Weekend update: Marine View Drive reopened Saturday, according to the city’s website.

Anyone with questions can call arterial supervisor Derrick Wells at 253-591-5430.
