A fire inside a Pierce County apartment building displaced multiple families Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters were dispatched at 12:08 p.m. to the 400 block of 111th Street Court East near Parkland. Smoke and flames were coming out of the third floor of the building, according to Central Pierce Fire & Rescue on X.

The firefighters worked to extinguish the flames, the post said. There were no reported injuries.

The post said fire crews remained at the complex to make sure there were no smoldering spots left that might reignite.

The Pierce County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
