Maintenance work, graffiti removal mean ramp closures on these Tacoma highways soon
Ramps will be closed March 24-28 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. along northbound Interstate 705 and under the State Route 509 interchange in Tacoma due to maintenance work by the Washington State Department of Transportation, according to a news release.
The I-705 northbound exit to Schuster Parkway will be closed at that time as will the SR-509 on-ramps to Schuster Parkway in both directions, according to WSDOT.
During that time city public works staff will manage detours while carrying out graffiti removal, pavement repairs, vegetation management and sign maintenance in the area, according to the city.
The city’s Homeless Engagement Alternatives Liaison (HEAL) team will continue to provide outreach services in the area through the duration of the work, the city said.
A section of South 21st Street between Pacific Avenue and Jefferson Avenue in Tacoma will likely be closed for six to eight weeks starting on March 22, according to a detour map from the city.
