Spanaway: DV report turns into chase, shots fired at suspect who fled, refused to stop

Shots were fired at a domestic violence suspect in the Spanaway area late Sunday, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

About 5:30 p.m., deputies were investigating a report of a domestic violence assault with a weapon, Deputy Carly Cappetto said.

The suspect then fled north, failed to stop for multiple officers and finally wrecked the vehicle in the 17300 block of Pacific Avenue, she said.

Shots were then fired, although it wasn’t immediately clear if the suspect has been hit, she said. Officers are safe, Cappetto added.

The vehicle has nose-dived into a ditch on the west side of the street. They can see movement inside the car, Cappetto said.

She said the person inside the vehicle is not responding to commands.
