A 20-year-old Tacoma man was sent to the hospital on Sunday morning after he ran across State Route 520 in Montlake north of Seattle and was struck by a car. The car did not stop to check on the man.

According to a news release from the Washington State Patrol, the incident happened at 1:14 a.m. on Sunday.

A vehicle was traveling westbound on SR 520 just east of Montlake Boulevard when the Tacoma man ran from the eastbound lanes into the westbound lanes. The vehicle struck the Tacoma man and continued driving westbound.

The man came to a rest in the left lane of westbound traffic. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center with injuries. The roadway was blocked for more than five hours, according to the release.

The WSP release says it’s unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident. A felony hit and run charge was filed against the driver, though no other information on them was provided by the WSP.
