Several streets in Puyallup are blocked as emergency crews work on clearing an apartment fire Monday afternoon.

The Puyallup Police Department and Central Pierce Fire & Rescue crews are at the building near 9th Street and 12th Avenue Southeast. The public is asked to avoid the area, according to Puyallup police on X at 1:15 p.m.

Crews were dispatched at 12:55 p.m. to the two-story building, CPFR said on X. When firefighters arrived, they began working to suppress the fire. All residents evacuated from the building, and the fire is under control. Fire crews are monitoring the affected areas for hot spots.

All residents are reportedly safe, police say.

3:15 p.m. update: The roads have reopened, according to Puyallup PD on X.
