A weekend shooting in Tacoma turned into a homicide investigation Wednesday after a juvenile victim died of his wounds, according to a statement from Tacoma police.

Officers responded to an initial report shortly after 10 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, the statement said. Two people — an adult man and the juvenile — checked themselves into an area hospital with gunshot wounds. The man was reportedly stable, while the boy was in critical condition.

Subsequent investigation established that the shooting took place in the 4300 block of Portland Avenue East, on the city’s Eastside. Police spokesperson Shelbie Boyd did not know the ages of the shooting victims.

No arrests have been made, according to the police statement. The incident is being investigated as a homicide.
