Power was lost to a nursing home in Tacoma early Friday morning after a car struck a telephone pole.

Tacoma firefighters were dispatched to the 2300 block of South Cedar Street at 1:01 a.m. for the crash. The car was on its side after hitting the pole, according to Tacoma Fire on X.

One person was extricated from the car and taken to a local hospital, the post said.

A nearby nursing home in the 3900 block of South 19th Street lost power due to the crash at 1:25 a.m., the post said. 26 residents of the home were on ventilators.

Fire crews provided care at the home and drove patients to local hospitals until power was back, the post said. Close to an hour later, power was restored and patients were taken back to their rooms.
