Lars Eugene Nelson, 29, was charged with second-degree murder for Tinney’s death. Nelson’s bail was set at $750,000 during his arraignment on April 22. Court records show he is out of custody on bond.

Nelson and Tinney were reportedly in a relationship prior to her death, according to charging documents. Prosecutors allege that the shooting may have been planned in advance and Tinney possibly convinced Nelson to shoot her as she slept.

Nelson’s next hearing is scheduled for May 19 at Pierce County Superior Court, records show.
