A 29-year-old University Place man, suspected of driving under the influence, drove the wrong way on state Route 16 early Sunday and crashed into another driver, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Neither driver was hurt.

About 1:50 a.m. Sunday, the 29-year-old man was headed west in the eastbound lanes of the highway, near Bethel Road, in Kitsap County.

A 40-year-old Port Orchard man also was headed east, according to State Patrol.

Troopers say the University Place man swerved and crashed into the rear passenger door of the Port Orchard’s man vehicle, causing both to come to a stop in the right lane of eastbound SR 16.
