A 17-year-old girl has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after she crashed into a Parkland house on Monday night, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office, the girl crashed into a house in the 600 block of 111th St. S. in Parkland around 11:45 p.m. When officers arrived, the girl appeared to be “very intoxicated,” the release said.

“This young woman is very lucky no one died in this situation,” the release said. “The homeowners had been in the back portion of the home at the time of the collision. If they had been in their living room, this could have been very different.”

The PCSO said the wreck is a reminder to not drink and drive.

“This is another good reminder to all parents with highschoolers to have these conversations on the dangers of drinking and driving,” the PCSO wrote. “We especially see a lot more of this towards the end of the school year when highschoolers are getting ready to graduate and a lot of celebrations are going on. This is not how you want to start your life out.”
