This list of the winners of The News Tribune's Athlete of the Week in May illustrates key moments in spring high school sports in the South Sound, including in state tournament games and playoff runs.

Jake Miller's game-winning home run for Sumner baseball, Laken Elvig's three home runs and 29 strikeouts for White River softball and Eddie Bruner Jr.'s triple win at the state track meet for Lincoln were some of the highlights.

Mason Pike’s no-hitter for Puyallup and Vivien Sweet’s shutout and three hits for Peninsula softball were also notable, as were Paige Jones’ three hits for Peninsula in a state opener and Cooper Hordyk’s six-inning pitching effort for Curtis.
