Man found dead in Puyallup River was subject in missing persons investigation, police say

The man who was found dead in the Puyallup River last month has been identified as 39-year-old Enrique Aviles.

People fishing on the river May 27 reported to police that his body was moving downriver at 66th Avenue East on North Levee Road East. His body was pulled out of the river by Central Pierce Fire & Rescue personnel, according to the Puyallup Police Department in a news release.

Aviles had been the subject of an active missing persons investigation since April 5, the release said. Just after 3 a.m. that day, a witness reported that he fell into the river.

Police say foul play is not suspected in Aviles’ death.
