The cause and manner of death of a man whose skeletal remains were found last summer near a Pierce Transit park-and-ride have been listed as undetermined, according to the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Robert Morris, 52, remains were found July 10 near the 6500 block of 144th Street Northwest in Gig Harbor. It is unknown where he was from, the office wrote in a news release.

A man discovered Morris’ remains along a creek just east of the Purdy park-and-ride facility, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office at the time.

Prior to that, Morris was listed as a missing person after his family had not heard from him in over a month, which was unusual, the Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook on March 8, 2024.

Morris was transient and frequented the Purdy park-and-ride area, the post said. His well-being also was a concern because his family reported he had a mental health condition.
