Initial post:

An evacuation notice is in place for some residents of the Graham area due to a large brush fire crews are fighting Friday evening.

Central Pierce Fire & Rescue announced a Level 2 evacuation notice for residents in the area north of 289th Street East and South Creek Road East in Graham in a Facebook post at 5:37 p.m. A map in the post shows the affected area.

“Under a level 2 evacuation notice, community members should pack to leave at any moment, and those with special circumstances should consider evacuating now,” the post said.

Crews from Central Pierce along with South Pierce Fire and Rescue and the Washington State Department of Natural Resources are fighting the fire, which has spread to an area spanning three to five acres. The area is near 289th Street East and South Creek Road East, near 304th Street East and Mountain Highway East, according to the post.

“Aerial suppression units are making water drops, and crews have established a fire line around the fire,” the post said.
