A 53-year-old Federal Way man is accused of triggering a seven-vehicle wreck on the Interstate Bridge Friday morning, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The Interstate Bridge crosses the Columbia River between Vancouver and Portland.

About 9:50 a.m., the Federal Way man, driving a semi-truck, was headed south on Interstate 5 approaching the bridge, according to the State Patrol.

Meanwhile, several drivers, headed in the same direction, slowed for traffic on the bridge.

Troopers say the Federal Way man was driving at “speeds too fast for conditions” and crashed into two vehicles, which set off the larger collision.

One person was hurt: A 52-year-old Vancouver woman who was taken to Peacehealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver.

The six other drivers, including two more from Vancouver, Everett, Snoqualmie and Hawaii, were not hurt.

Further information wasn’t immediately available.
