A motorcyclist who was part of gathering with other bikers in Tacoma’s West End was left with serious injuries after striking a median Friday.

Officers were dispatched at 11 p.m. to 30th Street and North Pearl Street where about 20 street bikers were congregating in the area and driving recklessly, Tacoma Police Department officer Shelbie Boyd told The News Tribune.

A man in his 20s who struck the median at the 3100 block of North Pearl Street was provided medical aid when police arrived. He was taken to a local hospital for his injuries. The man is expected to survive, Boyd said.

It was not immediately known whether anyone would be charged or cited.
