A 42-year-old woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash with a guardrail near Lake Tapps on Friday night.

Deputies responded around 11:15 p.m. to the 15800 block of Forest Canyon Road in Sumner, according to a report from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office. The victim was pronounced dead upon their arrival.

“It appeared the vehicle had left the roadway at a high rate of speed and struck the guardrail,” the report said. “Our traffic investigators are investigating the cause of this accident.”

Pierce County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Carly Cappetto confirmed in a phone call that there were no other people in the car.
