Pierce County bridge inspection will cause traffic delays. Plan ahead.

The Fox Island Bridge will be reduced to one lane on Wednesday, Aug. 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to a news release from Pierce County Planning and Public Works.

Crews will be inspecting the bridge to assess its structural condition for future maintenance work, the news release states. The team will be evaluating “the bottom of the bridge deck and the piers that support the bridge,” using a bridge inspection truck, according to the news release.

Travelers should prepare extra travel time due to expected traffic delays, the release said. Flaggers will be onsite to direct the alternating traffic.
