A motorcyclist killed in a collision with a barrier just before an Interstate 5 interchange in Tacoma has been identified by the Pierce County Medical Examiner.

Shane Ashlock, 51, of Tacoma, died from multiple blunt-force injuries. His manner of death was ruled an accident, the Medical Examiner’s release reads.

A Washington State Patrol press memo said that the motorcyclist crashed at about 5:15 p.m. Aug. 5 when he hit a barrier on the right shoulder of the southbound ramp from Interstate 705. The spot is just before where the road splits into two ramps, one to the state Route 7 extension and the other to northbound Interstate 5. The motorcycle came to rest between the right lane and right shoulder.

The two right lanes were blocked to traffic for 2 hours and 39 minutes, the press memo said.
