Pierce Transit to provide free rides to cooling centers during hot weekend
Pierce Transit will offer free bus or shuttle rides to various cooling centers in the county as temperatures are expected to rise this weekend in the Puget Sound
The service is in partnership with Pierce County and runs Saturday through Monday. The cooling center locations are in several libraries and the South Hill Mall, according to the county’s website.
There are also several locations for people to shower and drink water.
Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 80s this weekend with a possible high near the 90s, according to the National Weather Service.

- Bonney Lake Library at 18501 90th St. East, open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Graham Library at 9202 224th St. East, open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Buckley Library at 123 Street River Ave., open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Key Center Library at 8905 Key Peninsula Highway Northwest, open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- South Hill Mall at 3500 South Meridian in Puyallup, open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Lakewood Pierce County Library at 10202 Gravelly Lake Drive Southwest, open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

- Tacoma Rescue Mission Showers and Supplies at 425 South Tacoma Way, open 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Tacoma Recovery Center at 2201 South 19th St., Suite 101, open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- New Hope Resource Center at 414 Spring St. in Puyallup, open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- LASA Hygiene Center at 8956 Gravelly Lake Drive Southwest in Lakewood, open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Nativity House Shelter at 702 South 14th St. in Tacoma, open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Beacon Young Adult Shelter for ages 18 to 24 at 415 South 13th St. in Tacoma, open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
