Here’s a roundup of Labor Day holiday closures in Tacoma area

Parks, libraries and other government-managed facilities in and around Tacoma will see reduced or limited hours this Labor Day weekend.

Here’s a roundup of all the schedule changes from Aug. 30 through Sept. 1, and a list of when each agency will return to regular programming.

Libraries

All eight branches in the Tacoma Public Library system will be closed Saturday, Aug. 30 to observe the Labor Day holiday. The libraries, usually closed Sunday and Monday, will resume their regular hours on Tuesday, Sept. 2. All 19 branches in the Pierce County Library System, which serves cities in the county excluding Tacoma, will be closed all day on Monday, Sept. 1 to observe the holiday. The library system will resume regular hours on Tuesday, Sept. 2.

Parks

Several Parks Tacoma facilities will be closed on Sept. 1, including the Tacoma Nature Center, W.W. Seymour Conservatory, Eastside Community Center, STAR Center, People’s Center and Center at Norpoint. The facilities will resume their usual hours starting on Sept. 2.

A handful of facilities will remain open on the holiday, including the Stewart Heights Pool, Kandle Pool, Fort Nisqually Living History Museum, Point Defiance Marina, Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium and Northwest Trek Wildlife Park.

Administrative offices

In observance of Labor Day, Pierce County administrative offices will be closed on Sept. 1. Offices will reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 2 with normal business hours, according to the county’s website.

The City of Tacoma’s administrative offices will also close on Sept. 1, according to the city. Garbage, recycling and yard or food waste pickups will not be affected by the closures. The city will not have parking enforcement on Sept. 1, according to its website.
