Fire burns through home in Tacoma, causes power outage in the area
A fire destroyed a home in Tacoma Saturday afternoon and displaced five people.
Firefighters were dispatched at 12:29 p.m. to the 6300 block of East F Street, according to the Tacoma Fire Department on X.
The flames from the house fire extended to a motorhome that was occupied and damaged two vehicles, the post said. The fire spread to a power pole as well. All residents were evacuated safely.
Three people were evaluated for injuries as a precaution, Tacoma Fire spokesperson Chelsea Shepherd told The News Tribune.
One dog died and more animals may be dead
Four people who lived in the house and one person who resided in the motorhome have been displaced. Shepherd said they have been connected with the American Red Cross.
Shepherd confirmed the fire started because of an electrical failure where several large applicances were plugged in on the front porch. The house is considered a total loss.
She said a church near the house luckily did not catch fire.
Crews are on scene to monitor hot spots.
Seven customers were without power as the fire caused an outage, according to Tacoma Public Utilities. The estimated restoration time is pending.
