Tacoma Mayor Woodards on her way out. Here’s how to hear her last state of city

Tacoma Mayor Victoria Woodards is scheduled to deliver her last state of the city address on Oct. 2 at Lincoln High School.

Woodards will give the speech, themed “Grit, Growth and Gratitude,” at the school’s auditorium at 6 p.m., according to a news release from the city. Doors open at 5 p.m., and the city encourages attendees to register in advance at eventbrite.com.

Woodards was first elected mayor in 2017. She was re-elected in 2021 and has reached Tacoma’s two-term limit for mayors. Prior to her first mayoral term, she served as a City Council member from 2009 to 2016.

“Experience an immersive program divided into three chapters: Grit, Growth, and Gratitude, featuring storytelling, vibrant visuals, and interactive photo activations that capture the spirit of our city,” the city’s website states. “Come ready to reflect, connect, and envision the next chapter of Tacoma’s journey. Join us in making this a historic event to remember.”
