  • Most studios cluster in North End and downtown Tacoma
  • Attendees get demonstrations, shopping opportunities and a bingo contest with artwork prizes

For one weekend a year more than 100 Tacoma artists open their studios to the public, offering a free behind-the-scenes look at their workspaces, tools and creative processes.

This year the Tacoma Art Studio Tour is happening Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 11 and 12 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., as part of Tacoma Arts Month. Most studios are concentrated in the North End and downtown Tacoma, but some reach as far south as Midland. Find a full map, with photos and descriptions of the artists’ work online.

All artists will sell their wares and have hands-on demonstration activities for visitors. The artists specialize in a variety of mediums, including painting, sewing, printmaking, pottery, drawing, textiles, glass, mixed media, sculpture, jewelry, woodworking and photography, according to a list of artists the city published online.

Attendees who complete seven squares of their Studio Tour bingo card and send in a photo by Nov. 3 will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win artwork by a selection of artists on the tour.
